Editing Session 4

Music Video First Draft

This is our first draft of our music video. We believe that we were successful with lighting, especially with the wave projector shots as they reflect the words from the song and the water imagery used. We were also successful at filming at most of our locations and using them creatively, for example when we filmed in London we used a lot of the space and different angles. We were also successful with mise en scene, making sure that the costumes were different when appropriate and using different parts of the locations, not just staying in one place. We were able to add some effects to our video where appropriate, such as the reverse when she is walking and when he is rolling the bowling ball. This was to make things more interesting and appeal to the indie genre. We were also successful with targeting our audience, this has been done with the costume which is easily relatable and suits the genre.

To improve our music video we need to film more in order to fill up the video and get rid of the blanks. We need to add more effects such as reverse, slow motion and changing the colour like we agreed to do. We need to experiment more with our camerawork, mise en scene and editing in order to make it more creative and interesting.

Editing Session 3

For our third editing session we continued to line up the lip synching shots with the music and add the latest footage we had filmed, before the lesson. We also added effects such as clip reverse to certain parts of the video, an example can be seen below.

Everything went as planned and we were able to add the effects as discussed when we were planning. As we have not filmed at all our locations we were not able to edit everything and we have a few gaps. Next time we will need to film as much as we can, so we can edit more in our next session.

Filming Session 2&3

For our second filming session we filmed the bath scene. The mise en scene went as we planned for this shot, we used a bath bomb and the heads of flowers to give off an indie aesthetic feel. The shot was pretty successful as we framed it well and had good focus.

Our third filming session consisted of filming in the dark drama room, in order to create silhouettes. We originally planned for the silhouettes to be lighter, therefore we will have to experiment more creatively with the lights so it's light enough to see her face but the background is still dark.

We also experimented with the wave projector, a dark room was not available at the time therefore we were left to use a normal classroom. The waves were therefore not as prominent and did not stand out as much as we would like. We will have to make sure a dark drama room is free the next time we would like to use the projector.

For our next filming session we will be focusing on the mirror shot and the extreme close up the start, both will feature the artist lip synching.

Filming Session 1.

The first location we filmed at was London. We originally planned to film at the Sea Life Aquarium, however due to it closing early we decided to film on the London eye as well as around London. We were able to get shots of Robin and Luca on the London eye and around London, making sure to catch landmarks such as 'The Shard' and 'Big Ben'.
Instead of filming at the Sea Life Aquarium we plan to find an aquarium that is closer by.

This session didn't go as we planned, some of our shots were shaky so we will need to return on a different day to re-shoot them. However we were still able to get shots of the artist and her boyfriend walking around. Our next filming session will be focusing on the shots in the bath.
